Description

Available to order from supplier.

Centropyge eibli, known as Blacktail angelfish, is one of the largest dwarf angelfish. They have the typical Centropyge body shape, with a creamy-gray to yellowish base color. The tail fin, as well as the last part of the dorsal fin, are black (as the common name suggests) and feature orange to red vertical 'tiger' stripes and the edges around the eyes and dorsal and anal fin are also orange / red. Its dorsal, caudal and anal fins also have an electric blue border, making it a beauty to watch!

Like all other angelfish, it is hermphrodite and the most dominant fish will transform into a male when there is no other male around. These fish are quite peaceful, but be careful when combining them with much smaller or larger fish and other angelfish (dwarfs). While dwarf angels are certainly more likely to be reef safe compared to their larger relatives and are therefore more often seen in reef tanks, they are always a risk. C. eibli is one of the species known to nip corals from time to time, but usually not to the point where they need to be removed. Certain corals like Acanthastrea and Blastomussa and clams can be avoided if you want to play it safe. Keeping them well fed appears to reduce the risk, so make sure you feed them an adequate and varied diet of seaweed and meaty foods to make them really happy!
