Paracanthurus hepatus, commonly known as the Pacific blue tang, is a large surgeonfish that needs lots of swimming space and clean water to thrive. It is rarely aggressive towards other fish, but can be towards other fish and food competitors. Once the hierarchy is established, it generally presents no problems. Just make sure he has clean water, enough room to swim, and enough food.

Like other tangs, it eats meaty foods, but it is important that it eats seaweed throughout the day to ensure it stays healthy. Therefore, feed flakes/pellets several times a day and make sure seaweed is always available.

This is the yellow-bellied version of the regular blue tang. Other than color, there is no difference in care or size.
